I'm more interested in the controllers than anything else.
I've been screaming for a trackball for years. A trackball is the best compromise I've seen for people that just want something that fits in their hands but also allows for quick precision like a mouse. Playing a FPS or RTS with current controllers is a joke. The amount of aim assist that programmers implement in FPS's to compensate for lack of accuracy and speed should be proof enough.
I still don't think they've taken advantage of the future/sci-fi setting for FPS's. We've done WWII, Modern, and semi-future. How about far into the future? Yes, it's been done, but not enough, IMO. Most that have attempted it, have failed. We need more "GOOD" far future FPS's. It allows for the devs to be as creative as they want with regards to weapons, vehicles, settings, etc.
I have just one request for it. If it's going to b...
You'd better get used to not having tangible media. Everything will eventually go that way. It kills the used game market, hurts piracy, and gets rid of the costs of producing the disks, cases, covers, shipping, etc.
If MS decides not to use this tech, Sony's stock will see a nasty hit.
Seriously, whatever console allows you to play used games will be the one I buy. If MS is smart, they won't use this same tech next gen.
I've said it before:
No used games = no purchase of console
There's not one thing on that list that would make me want to buy the new Xbox. I sure hope MS is planning on better things than what's on that list.
I'd be calling the Better Business Bureau and my state's attorney general. That's awful.
In the short term, Kinect brought them money. Once the novelty wore off, it ended up hurting them because MS spent most of their time and money developing for Kinect and neglected the hardcore base. Now the hardcore base is wondering where the hell the exclusives are. MS has a major problem on their hands in the exclusives department. They have Halo, GoW, Forza, and Fable. That's about it. That's not going to cut it next round.
I have yet to see one game with ...
This should have been at least 3 of their items on the list.
MS needs to just get rid of Kinect. It's pulling all of their resources away from making quality games and putting them into making casual games. Rare used to make some nice games. Now they're relegated to making party games for Kinect. :( I know they'll never do it but I really think Kinect is nothing more than a gimmick for little kids and their parents.
It's the publishers own damn fault for not recognizing the market for pre-owned games before other companies did.
You don't see makers of other products pulling crap like this. Toyota doesn't make it so your car doesn't operate correctly if you bought it used. Samsung doesn't make it so their TV's don't work as well if it was used. Artists don't tell their customers they can't sell their artwork once they don't want it anymore. I co...
No used games = no sale. Simple as that.
It's the publishers own damn fault for not recognizing the used game market and trying to benefit from it before GameStop and others did. Now, because they were slow to recognize the market, they're acting like a bunch of babies and won't let you play with their stuff.
You bought the game. It's yours. Now they are making it so you don't even have the right to sell it. F them!
I love that name, Gabe Cube.
You can tell this site is HEAVILY pro-console and anti PC just by how many negative votes people are getting for saying they like Steam and the idea of this box.
With all the things Valve has done over the years, people should be rejoicing. They're not a publicly traded company so they aren't driven by pure profit for shareholders. They go after value and service and in return, people support them like no other company on PC.
Just look at the sale...
Not to mention the great deals that Steam has every few months.
Like it or not, that's the way the industry is headed. Physical media is dying. The only thing that's holding it back is the lack of quality broadband to everyone. Once that happens, I don't see physical media sticking around much longer. It is a developers best tool to fight piracy.
I presented this question in a reply earlier. I'm also wondering how Steam will address the controller issue. Having people play with a console controller is a HUGE disadvantage against people playing with a M+KB.
Unless they come out with a new type of controller that is as fast and accurate as a KB+M, I really don't know how they'll address this.
Personally, I hate controllers for FPS's, RTS's, APRG's, so I'd be willing to pla...
Gabe Newell has stated that he HATES Windows 8. His direct quote, "We want to make it as easy as possible for the 2,500 games on Steam to run on Linux as well. It’s a hedging strategy. I think Windows 8 is a catastrophe for everyone in the PC space. I think we’ll lose some of the top-tier PC/OEMs, who will exit the market. I think margins will be destroyed for a bunch of people. If that’s true, then it will be good to have alternatives to hedge against that eventuality."

A great series that was tarnished by a horrible ending in ME3.
